[FABLE] A JOURNEY OF OLA KOALA (Part 2)

A JOURNEY OF OLA KOALA part 2
by: Lolita R.

“You have a very warm family.” Ola Koala said after they were sent away with lots of blessing from the colony members. Kiki Giraffe kept focus on running based on the jeep’s tires traces on the soil without answering. Thank God he had a pair of long legs.

“I also have one like them in my hometown, Australia2. Do you know where Australia is? It’s a loooong way from here. It is my first time to be in Africa, too.”

“Haaah, I miss them.” She continued his monologue along their journey. “In my previous zoo, my cage was beside the giraffes’, you know? That’s why I feel so connected to you since the very first time. I also feel that it is a destiny that it was you who found me, and not the predators instead.”

“There are four giraffes in my previous zoo. My cage was beside theirs, remember? There is one I was very close to. I think he is younger than you, he said he is from Africa too3, but I notice that Africa is so wide that he might not from here, though. Geez, I miss him badly. Oh Randy…”

Kiki Giraffe suddenly stopped his move and turned his long neck to his back where Ola Koala laid her small body.

“What did you say? Your friend name?” he demanded.

“R-Randy?” Ola Koala answered hesitantly. She was shocked by Kiki’s sudden question, moreover, it was the first time Kiki Giraffe responded to her talking.

“I know a giraffe whose name Randy too…” it’s my brother, he added to his mind. “Umm, what’s he like?”

Ola Koala couldn’t cover her happiness, “Really? We do have a thing in common now! But, what’s he like? Umm, like… you?” Ola Koala answered unsurely. “Long neck, big brown spots, tall…”

Kiki Giraffe healed his breath, “Geez, I know that. All giraffes have those things! I mean, is there any specific thing on him, which makes him different from other giraffes? What about his leg?”

Ola Koala took some times to think, “Leg? Umm… he does have this pretty long scar on his upper leg, indeed… Why?”

“Randy is also my little brother’s name who were taken away by hunters last year, and he also has a scar on his upper leg!”

“Oh God! Then my Randy is your brother? I knew it, I knew that we were destined!” she said while bounced happily on Kiki’s back.

“I don’t care about that destiny-thing, but I am pretty sure your Randy is my little bro! He got that scar when he was playing with some baby lions not long before he was taken away,” he chuckled when remembered the memory. “I mean, they might be just babies, but they are lions, aren’t they, O… la? Ola? Ola!” he panicky screamed when realizing that Ola Koala was no longer on his back. He looked everywhere for her, behind the bushes, on the trees, but there wasn’t any sign of her.

“-ki…”

Suddenly he heard a seem-to-be-panic call coming from his right. He looked, and found her sat on the ground about a meter behind the big tree.

“There, you are.” He relieved.

Ola Koala didn't answer nor move, she kept looking to a small cave in front of her with a frightened face. Kiki Giraffe followed her act and looked to the same cave. Blood seemed to be drained from his face as soon as he saw what he saw there.

“Nyam, nyam. Looks like I already found my dinner.” A drooling-of-hunger wolf came out of the dark cave. Koala would be a very special course indeed since not every day they visited the savanna.

The wolf was ready to make Ola Koala his dinner dish when Kiki Giraffe brave himself to kick it by the stomach before it bit her.

The wolf got angrier and now ready to attack Kiki Giraffe. But suddenly it stopped.

"Kiki??" It asked surprisedly.

Kiki Giraffe stared at it for a while, wondering why it knew his name. Slowly, his eyes opened wider, "Willy??" He asked back.

Ola Koala freezed, confused of what was happen.
